group Dragoman’s new 21-day Ladakh trip, starting and ending from Delhi, takes
travellers deep into the Indian Himalayas on the western edge of the Tibetan
plateau in Ladakh, or Little Tibet as it’s also known, which is one of the
highest places on Earth. Guests will visit Manali, Buddhist monasteries,
palaces in Leh and the remote, rugged Nubra Valley. The tours also include the
opportunity to relax on houseboats on Dal Lake in Srinagar, Kashmir. The first
trip will depart on June 7, 2015. Prices start from £1,348 (Dh7,967). For more
details, visit www.dragoman.com.
Help to clean up Spitsbergen
An initiative to clean North
Spitsbergen, a Norwegian archipelago where rubbish is often hazardous for
wildlife, has started as part of a seven-night cruise with Gane & Marshall.
Departing from Longyearbyen on August 28, 2015, the cruise includes cleaning,
which will take place over four days. When not cleaning, passengers can enjoy
an excursion of the surrounding area. While helping to clean is optional, it
will offer guests the opportunity to set foot on the most remote regions of the
Spitsbergen coastline. Prices start from £2,550 (Dh15,072) per person,
including a 20 per cent discount because of the environmental nature of the
excursion, and includes return flights from London Heathrow to Longyearbyen,
transfers, excursions and seven nights of full-board accommodation on Oceanwide
Expeditions’ ship Ortelius. For more details, visit www.ganeandmarshall.com.
